So You're Out at the Club...Now What?

So You're Out at the Club...Now What?

You've been there before. Your friends all wanted to go out to have a good time, so you go along with them. You don't want to be the odd one out! And even though dancing doesn't come naturally to you, you think 'if I have enough drinks the liquid courage will do the trick!'

Let me tell you what: Liquid courage looks exactly how it sounds. When you've had a few drinks in you, you start acting sloppy. Stop caring so much what you look like. Maybe you wobble around when you're dancing or can't step right. Maybe your inhibitions are lowered. You stop caring what you act like or sound like and start to say/do things you might regret in the morning. You start to lose your balance when you're walking and you start yelling in peoples' ears thinking they can't hear you. It's not cute.

But it's okay! I'm here to help. You don't need liquid courage to get on the dance floor. You don't need to drink to be able to talk to people of the opposite sex. And you don't need to drink to have fun. Stop getting wasted and start having actual fun! Plus, this is a recipe for fun that doesn't involve your whole next day wasted feeling groggy and hung over.

Step 1: Understand that everyone has rhythm. Dancing is natural to humans. It's innate. As long as you have a heart beat you have rhythm. The only thing left is to tap into that rhythm.

Step 2: Listen to some music in the comfort of your apartment. Start bobbing your head to the beat. Here's a Youtube video that shows you what to listen for!

Step 3: Come to a 6 week course at Move With Emily. Learn the basics of rhythm and dance.

Learn confidence, how to approach and be approached by the opposite sex, how to be confident in your innate sexiness, and how to dance on the dance floor both with a partner and by yourself. How to handle yourself if you are in a situation you are uncomfortable with, and how to progress respectfully through the steps to continue the attraction/connection outside of the club!

Step 4: Take yourself and your friends out to celebrate! Use your newfound club dancing and social skills to wow your friends, your self, and people you're interested in! Remember: you don't have to rely on alcohol, weed, or other drugs to loosen up and have fun. While it can be fun, now you can view it as a choice rather than a necessity! And see your confidence take off :)
